Denis up for an award

Loaves and Fishes stalwart Denis Curran MBE has been nominated as a local community champion by MP Dr Lisa Cameron.

The ‘Giving Tuesday’ campaign is searching for someone who has shown an extraordinary commitment to charity and who has the potential to be the UK’s face of the global campaign.

Denis – who has been a hero to many for his work at the food bank – has been nominated for the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) by the East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow MP.

Dr Cameron said: “We all know people who go above and beyond the call of duty to support charity – this is a chance to celebrate those who make such an important contribution to our daily life in East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow.

“I have nominated Denis Curran of Loaves and Fishes to be our local charity champion.

“Many people in the constituency know of the great work that Denis and his wife Cathy have done over the years and I’d like them to have the chance to discuss their work on a national level.”

Ben Russell, director of communications at CAF said: “The next champion will help to inspire millions of people across the country to do good stuff.”
