EK stun Queens

-

East Kilbride under-20s kept up their unbeaten away record in the SPFL West Development League after a stunning win over Queen of the South.

Early goals from Jay McInally and Blair Kidd put EK well in command at Palmerston before Callum Williams replied for the home side before the break.

However, Kilby struck back early in the second half through Conor Bell to claim another memorable three points at the expense of their full-time opponents.

The visitors took the lead after nine minutes when a pinpoint long pass from Kidd found McInally and the striker took great delight in outmuscling his former club’s defence before slamming home a fine left foot drive to open the scoring.

With the home side second best all over the field, Kilby doubled the lead on 20 minutes. Conor Scullion delivered a perfect cross and Kidd bulletted a header low into the net.

But the Dumfries side refused to go quietly and hit back six minutes later when a corner from the right was headed high into the net by Williams.

Any hope of a comeback was quashed in the 49th minute when Bell capped a fine personal display, climbing highest to power home a back-post header after an excellent Liam Craig corner.
