Seeking views of council tenants New strategy

- Mark Pirie

Tenants in East Kilbride and Avondale are being urged to make their voices heard on housing in the town.

Councillor Josh Wilson, chair of South Lanarkshire’s housing and technical resources committee, wants folk to take part in the consultation on their new customer involvement strategy 2018-2022.

Local authority chiefs were praised recently by East Kilbride Housing Forum chair Joe Allan for opening up lines of communication.

“This council has a long standing and successful partnership with its customers and we are keen to see this continue,” said Cllr Wilson.

“The new customer involvement strategy seeks to increase the scope for customers to be involved in shaping and commenting on our housing services.”

The draft strategy – which was previously known as the tenant participation strategy – is the fourth to be produced by the council as required by the Housing (Scotland) Act 2001.

The draft strategy can be downloaded at https:// www.southlanarkshire. gov.uk/CustomerInvolvement and there is a link to the consultation questionnaire included at the end of the document.

The consultation closes on Monday, April 16 with the finalised strategy going to the housing and technical resources committee in May for approval.

Contact strategy and policy officer Aileen Muir on (01698) 454121 or e-mail aileen.muir@ southlanarkshire.gov.uk for further information on the project.
