Village Music to mark 25 years in Eas
An iconic Village business renowned for its strong links with the East Kilbride community is to celebrate 25 years in the town by throwing its biggest concert to date.
Village Music showcases the talents of its 400 music school kids twice a year while raising hundreds of pounds for children’s cancer charity Neuroblastoma UK.
And on Tuesday, June 5 shop owner Jamie Finn is to host an extra special summer show to mark the milestone of his family business at the 720-seater Hamilton Town House.
Jamie told the News: “This will be our eighth concert but we’re making it a special one because it’s the shop’s 25th anniversary.
“Every concert we’ve done has sold out within days so we’ve pushed the boat out and we’ve hired the Town House – it will be our biggest concert yet.
“Up until now there have only been enough tickets for the families of the students so we’re hoping the general public will be able to come along to this one and see some awesomely talented kids.
“We’re looking to make this quite a special event for the celebration – so expect a few surprises!”
And along with the young musical maestros, for the very first time, the Village School of Music’s (VSOM) adult banjo and guitar class will also be taking to the stage.
The VSOM’s “eclectic” concerts feature a crosssection of musical stylings – from classical piano solos to pop vocals and heavy classic rock to traditional fiddle, banjo and ukulele music.
Top raffle prizes are also on offer thanks to generous donations from the shop’s biggest suppliers – including a Sigma guitar worth £300 and AudioTechnica headphones.
“We want to raise as much money for Neuroblastoma UK as possible,” Jamie added.
Jamie took over the family business from dad Colin, 66, when he retired in 2013.
