80th and 90th birthdays celebrated
There were three big reasons to celebrate at an East Kilbride sheltered housing complex.
For staff and residents came together to enjoy a huge birthday bash.
Castle field Gardens residents Shirley Dolan, Christina Mosson and Susan Veryan were treated to a joint party.
Shirley, 80, and 90-year-old duo Susan and Christina were joined for a slice of cake and a sing-song.
Housing officer Catherine Cunnachie said the residents were delighted to be able to share the big day with one another – and it had created a great atmosphere at the Greenhills facility.
Catherine added that they regularly have a birthday party for the landmark occasions of their residents and they were lucky that they all lined up for an extra-special day.
“It was a great day,” she told the News. “We felt it was something really worth celebrating.
“We always tr y to recognise our residents’ special big birthdays.
“We had Roberto the singer come in and give us a performance as well and had a bit of cake.
“Roberto is one of their favourites and is really popular with the residents.
“We hold lunch clubs and various other events throughout the summer for residents so they get a mix of different entertainment.
“The residents and the staff had a great day together.
“We really enjoy getting everyone to participate.
“It can be tough when families aren’t here all the time but we have a good community in the complex.”
