A man has appeared in court in connection with a sex assault on a 15-year-old girl in East Kilbride.

Marcus Donald, 24, of Cambuslang, appeared in private at Hamilton Sheriff Court and made no plea or declaratio­n to a charge of assault with intent to rape.

A teenage girl was attacked while making her way home after getting off a bus at Calderwood Square on Friday, May 25 shortly after 11pm.

The case was continued for further examinatio­n and Donald was released on bail. He is expected to appear in court again at a later date.

A pensioner has been charged with assault following an altercatio­n with other dog walkers in East Kilbride’s Calderglen Country Park.

The 66-year-old man is alleged to have slapped and kicked a 32-yearold woman and a 30-year-old man within the park at around 3.20pm on Sunday.

Police were called and the OAP was arrested and charged. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

A man is to appear in court charged with theft from a motor vehicle.

The 32-year-old was arrested in connection with the incident at Hill View, The Murray on Sunday.

At around 4pm, an unlocked car was broken into and personal details and bank cards were stolen.

Police said some of the items were recovered and a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal.
