Greenhil l s gra n Theresa McDade is on a mission to inspire other slimmers after shedding a whopping 8st 7lbs in one year.

Following 30 years of failed diets, t he 57- year- ol d s ai d Sl i mming World “gave me my life back”.

Now a consultant for the weight l oss brand, Theresa hopes her life-changing transforma­tion will spur others on t o t ake t hat f i rst motivation­al step to success.

She said: “Dieting to me meant starvation so to be able to have such a varied diet and still lose weight was the turning point for me. I lost seven-and-a-half pounds in the first week. I couldn’t believe I was eating what I wanted and still losing the weight.

“And t he heal t h benefi t s are incredible. I suffer from sciatica and sometimes couldn’t get off the couch. But six weeks into the plan I wasn’t even taking painkiller­s.

“My lifestyle now to what it was before is night and day – I walk everywhere. Before I lost the weight walking was a chore, a necessity, but now it’s a pleasure.”

Speaking through tears when describing how her weight was impacting on her three children and six grandchild­ren, Theresa added: “The big thing for me was not realising how much my weight was affecting them. They were so worried about me but now they have their mum and gran back. Slimming World gave me my life back. Dream, believe and achieve.”

C o mment i n g o n h i s mum’s a c h i e v e m e n t , T h e r e s a’s s o n Stephen said: “We as a family are so proud of what she has achieved – she is an inspiratio­n to us all.”

Join Theresa on Tuesdays from 3.30pm, 5.30pm and 7.30pm at Our Lady of Lourdes Church and Wednesdays from 7.30pm at St Mark’s Church.
