A fantastic first for ladies’ section

Bonnyton Golf Club hosted the Ladies National for the first time in the competitio­n’s 22 year history.

The Eaglesham outfit welcomed 84 players from 12 competing teams from the UK and the Republic of Ireland and their 100 supporters and caddies.

Star of t he day was Judy Byrne Murray, from Edmondstow­n, Dublin who won the Singles Gross Trophy with a stunning score of 81.

Judy has been battling cancer for the last few years but it hasn’ t stopped her from playing amazing golf and being an inspiratio­n to all who know her.

Edmondstow­n also won the Combined Singles and Four ball Nett, the Team Singles Nett, the Team Fourball Nett and the Team Nett Trophy.

Other trophies were al so won by Coombe Hill, Hartsbourn­e, Dunham Forest and Moor Allerton

The host club, Bonnyton, won the Fourball Nett runners-up.

Bonnyton’s Lady Captain Lisa Cohen said :“We are thrilled to have had the opportunit­y to showcase the very best of Scottish hospitalit­y and are over the moon to be able to provide an event to remember for all the right reasons.

“I am so proud of everyone at Bonnyton who went the extra mile and to our team for winning a trophy.”

The competitio­n is staged alternatel­y in London and the provinces and next year will be held at Whitefield Golf Club in Manchester.
