The annual awards ceremony for East Kilbride & District Engineering Group Training Association (EKGTA) saw young people recognised for their achievements.
A number of awards were made to individuals who have been undertaking an engineering modern apprenticeship and excelled both in their training at the Nerston-based centre and subsequently in their workplace.
Weir Engineering Services’ divisional engineering director Alan Stewart was guest speaker.
There were over 80 people present including apprentices, company representatives and distinguished guests.
The EKGTA Chairman’s Award, was presented to the team of trainees judged to have successfully completed the ‘best project’ during the foundation stage of their training. Prizewinners were Jack McDonald, Jordan Briody, Scott Hornell, Ryan Williams, Shaunagh McPhee, Scott Livingstone and Gordon Moon.
Meanwhile, the Glasgow Clyde College Awards recognised achievement in the academic component of the engineering apprenticeship programme and was awarded for outstanding performance in both the national certificate in manufacturing engineering and national certificate in electrical engineering courses – this went to Ryan Williams and Adam Lyon.
The learner of the year, Paul Fettes, was presented with the Hugh Logan Award which recognised his achievement in continuing professional development during his employment and the best final year apprentice accolade went to Greig Williams.
