Choir hitting high notes
The award-winning SoundSational choir is coming to East Kilbride.
SoundSational have become one of Scotland’s most in-demand community choirs during the past eight years.
Open to all with no exclusions, members are aged from 16 to those who are in their eighties.
The group has starred on the BBC and STV, made radio appearances and were the first act to perform at the SSE Hydro.
And charity has been the winner with SoundSational helping to raise over half a million pounds.
Musical director Tommy Chambers said: “SoundSational is all about bringing our community together, whatever your background, and using the emotional and physical benefits of singing to help yourself and to help others.
“Singing in a group is a unique bonding experience which helps to tackle isolation within our communities. It helps with self belief, confidence, exercise, improves breathing and releases a whole host of happy chemicals from the brain such as serotonin and oxytocin... great for good mental health.”
Mr Chambers added: “I’m excited to be bringing SoundSational to South Lanarkshire and myself and my team are looking forward to meeting new people and working with new singers.”
A taster session will take place in St Bride’s RC Hall tomorrow night from 7pm.
The choir will, thereafter, be every Thursday evening from 7pm to 9pm.
If you can’t make the taster session, you are invited along the following week. The next intake will then be in January.
