It was game over when two yobs smashed bottles on an East Kilbride pitch where boys were playing football.
The culprits – Ross McAllister, 28, of Hoddam Avenue, Castlemilk, Glasgow and Jordan Craig, 19, of Parkfield, Whitehills – appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court.
They admitted culpable and reckless conduct, as well as threatening or abusive behaviour, at Ballerup Recreation Centre on May 19.
The court heard the pair were drunk and started yelling abuse at the youngsters. They threw bottles on to the pitch and the broken glass meant the lads had to abandon their game.
An allegation that the pair yelled repeatedly at three boys:‘We rape children’, was dropped.
Sheriff Ray Small ordered McAllister to carry out 160 hours of unpaid community work.
Craig, who also admitted having a knife on a separate occasion and offending while on early release from a custodial sentence, was locked up for 111 days.
