Where and when to avoid the dreaded traffic jams
Road closures affecting East Kilbride and Avondale:
East Kilbride
●KITTOCHSIDE ROAD. Closed between entrance to Kittochside Farm to Carmunnock Road from 7am on Friday, September 14 to 7pm on Thursday, September 20. Alternative route via Waterside Road, Waterbank Road, Westerfield Road, East Kilbride Road, Queensway, West Mains Road, East Mains Road, Markethill Road and Cairnmuir Highway.
●GLEN ROAD. Closed between Philipshill Road and Kittochside Road from 7am on Friday, September 14 to 7pm on Thursday, September 20. Alternative route as per Kittochside Road closure.
●TANNIN CRESCENT. Closed between the southern gable end of No 22 Tannin Crescent and the western gable end of No 34 Tannin Crescent from 9.30am to 3.30pm on Wednesday, September 19 for Scottish Water works. Alternative route via Jasmine Avenue, Wattle Lane and vice versa.
●ELPHINSTONE CRESCENT. Closed between No 125 and Wardlaw Crescent from 12noon to 6pm on Wednesday, October 24 for Scottish Water manhole repair. Alternative route Bruce Terrace, Elphinstone Crescent and Kelvin Drive.
●KENDAL ROAD. Closed between No 23 and No 29 from 9.30am to 3.30pm on Wednesday, October 24 for Scottish Water manhole repair. Alternative route via Keswick Road, Kirkstone Close and Newlandsmuir Road.
●HIGH WHITEHILLS ROAD. Closed between Quarry Road and Fortieth Avenue to 7pm on Friday, September 14 for carriageway resurfacing. Alternative route via Quarry Road, Greenhills Road and vice versa. For safety reasons, phased closure will be in place with no vehicle access to and from the following streets: Bradley Crescent to Fortieth Avenue from Wednesday, September 12 to Friday, September 14 between 7am and 7pm.
Auldhouse
●AULDHOUSE ROAD. Closed between Bent Hall Farm and Langlands Road between 9am to 5pm daily from Monday, October 15 to Wednesday, October 17 for tree cutting on behalf of British Telecom. Alternative route via Greenhills Road, A726 Strathaven Road, Thorn Highway, Millwell Road, Cleughearn Road and vice versa.
●MEADOWHEAD HIGHWAY. Closed between Meadowhead Farm access and Cladence Highway to Monday, Octobeer 12, 2020 for road safety reasons. Diversion via Cladence Highway, Millwell Road and Ardochrig Road.
Glassford
●ALSTON STREET. Closed between Glassford Primary School and North Lodge from Saturday, October 13 to Sunday, October
Strathaven
●B743 MUIRKIRK ROAD. Closed between High Dykes Farm and Redding Road from Monday, October 8 to Friday, October 12 for road surfacing works. Alternative route via B743 Muirkirk Road, A70 Muirkirk Road, B743, B7037, A719, A71 Darvel Road, B743 Muirkirk Road and vice versa.
●A726 GLASGOW ROAD. Closed between Coldstream Highway and No 134 Glasgow Road from Saturday, October 13 to Tuesday, October 23. Access to Overton Avenue will be maintained at all times from one direction. Traffic will be diverted via A723 to Hamilton, A72/A74 to Burnbank, High Blantyre Road, Main Street, A725 East Kilbride Expressway/ Kingsway, A726 to Strathaven and vice versa. This is to allow road surfacing works and the installation of sewers associated with the East Overton housing development.
