East Kilbride News - - MEMORY LANE -

Five swimmers from East Kilbride Amateur Swimming Club won 14 medals between them at the Scottish age group finals at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh. The top swimmer from the club was Tracey Hillhouse, who won five medals from six finals.

Others were Elaine Paul, Jim McMeekin, Denise Freestone and Gillian Lockhart.

While Lanarkshire Health Board didn’t say as much, doctors in East Kilbride were anxious that they may have been considering the possibility of closing down the GP maternity unit at Hairmyres Hospital.

Beckford Lodge and Alexander Hospital had already been axed and GPs called a meeting of their maternity unit liaison committee.
