Driven round the bend

East Kilbride News - - EAST KILBRIDE VIEW -

Dear Editor,

Have drivers forgotten what it’s like to try to cross a road on foot?

Three times recently on three different crossings I’ve been ignored by drivers. 1) On the green man crossing from Lindsay field Morrisons to the care home. Car stopped in outside lane but as we were crossing on the green man, a car shot through on the inside lane, just missing us; 2) At Greenhills shops, driver drove through even though I had started to cross on the zebra crossing; 3) In Morrisons at the second zebra crossing as cars turn into car park. Cars frequently drive straight in – often, it seems, unaware that there is a crossing there. I do think this one should be repositioned or signage improved.

While on my soapbox, don’t drivers know to give way at a roundabout to cars on the right (and not wait for cars on the left)? There are enough roundabouts to practice this! Anne Taylor, via email
