School hol­i­day dates pro­posal

Christ­mas might be around the cor­ner – but if you have kids then you might want to start plan­ning for fu­ture sum­mer hol­i­days.

South La­nark­shire Coun­cil pre­sented the pro­posed dates for the 2019/2020 school term to coun­cil­lors.

Mem­bers of the ed­u­ca­tion re­sources com­mit­tee were due to meet yes­ter­day to rub­ber-stamp the plan.

Pupils are set to start the first term on Thurs­day, Au­gust 15, 2019.

For the Septem­ber Week­end, schools will close on Thurs­day, Septem­ber 26 and re­open on Tues­day, Oc­to­ber 1.

The next break will be the Oc­to­ber week and schools will closed on Fri­day, Oc­to­ber 11 and open up again on Mon­day, Oc­to­ber 21.

There will be an in-ser­vice day on Mon­day, Novem­ber 18. The Christ­mas hol­i­days will be­gin on Fri­day, De­cem­ber 20, when schools close, and they will re­open on Mon­day, Jan­uary 6, 2020.

For the Feb­ru­ary break, schools will be closed on Fri­day, Feb­ru­ary 7, Mon­day, Feb­ru­ary 10 and Tues­day, Feb­ru­ary 11.

Spring break sees schools close on Fri­day, April 3 and re­open on Mon­day, April 20.

In the third term, schools will be closed on Mon­day, May 4 and there will be an in-ser­vice day on Tues­day, May 5.

There will be a lo­cal hol­i­day when schools close on Thurs­day, May 21 and re­open on Tues­day, May 26.

And sum­mer be­gins when schools close on Wed­nes­day, June 24.
