Audition for Hairspray musical

Budding performers will have their chance to shine in open auditions for a hit musical next month.

Encore Stars Academy – which offers classes in East Kilbride as well as Blantyre and Cambuslang – is looking for young people between the ages of four and 18 from throughout Lanarkshire to take part in their production of Hairspray.

It will be staged in May 2019 in East Kilbride’sVillageTheatre.

Auditions for ensemble and lead roles will take place on Saturday, December 15 at Encore Studios in the town’s Murray Square.

Youngsters do not have to sign up to any further classes to audition.

Rehearsals for the show will take place on Saturday afternoons.

●You can grab the popcorn and go to the movies at the Old Parish Church in East Kilbride next month.

The venue is hosting a family Christmas movie afternoon in the Glebe Street hall in the Village on Sunday, December 16 from 2pm to 4pm.

Starring Martin Freeman and other big names, the film showing is the first of the popular‘Nativity’films – the latest, Nativity Rocks, is in cinemas now.

Popcorn and juice will be provided. Donations of £2 are requested.
