Church welcomes FAMS group
A group which offers support and empathy to families affected by murder and suicide was welcomed to Greenhills Parish Church.
Rev John Brewster heard first hand about the experiences of some of those who have been helped by Families and Friends Against Murder and Suicide (FAMS).
East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow MP Dr Lisa Cameron MP was also in attendance.
Rev Brewster said:“Volunteer befriending group FAMS has a very particular role in our society.
“From their own personal experience of shock and grief, they offer support and empathy to those families affected by murder and suicide which is a bigger concern locally than many might think.
“Members Pamela Porter and Claire Gaunt came to Greenhills Parish Church at my invitation to provide information and advice.
Rev Brewster continued:“MP Lisa Cameron commended the activities of FAMS, pointing out that NHS care had a long waiting time for appointments and that befriending groups and welcoming churches are potentially life-affirming for so many.”
