Council online services boost

- Colin Paterson

An East Kilbride councillor has welcomed the launch of two new online services.

Ratepayers and council tenants can now check their balances using a computer, tablet or smartphone.

And East Kilbride East representative Gladys Miller has given the scheme the thumbs up.

The finance and corporate resources committee chair said: “Myaccount is an extremely handy and secure way to keep on track with your council tax bill, and if you are a council tenant, you can access your rent account.

“We will add more council services over time and will keep you informed of any changes.”

Myaccount is a free and secure service which checks who you are and allows you to use one account to access a number of public services, including other councils and some NHS services.

All you need to register is an e-mail account, and once registered, you will be e-mailed your sign-in details.

You can access myaccount from the top right corner on the home page of the council’s website, www. southlanarkshire.gov.uk
