Prison term for indecent images

An East Mains pervert caught with indecent images of children has been jailed for 18 months at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

Terence Burns, 38, of Tummel Green, was found guilty after trial on two counts involving the downloading and possession of the material. He had denied the charges. The offences happened at an address in Mallard Crescent, Greenhills in September last year.

Sheriff Shiona Waldron also ordered Burns to be supervised closely in the community for two years on his release from prison and he will be subject to a sexual offences prevention order for five years.

He will be on the sex offenders’ register for an indefinite period.
