Motorist banned from the roads

A Murray motorist ignored a no through road sign then abandoned his car and ran away from police officers.

Jamie Thom, 32, of Kelvin Place, was fined £400 and banned from driving for six months at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

He admitted driving carelessly while on bail on Angus Avenue, Calderwood on November 17.

The court heard Thom wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was spotted driving too fast and too close to other vehicles.

Thom also admitted having no insurance and attempting to defeat the course of justice by running off.
