10 CHRISTMAS Last call out for those toy appeal donations
Salvation Army bid
There’s just five days left to support our Christmas Toy Appeal – so if you want to make a donation, please do so now!
It is looking like another bumper year with dozens of gifts handed in to the Salvation Army by generous News readers.
And with December 25 fast approaching, the deadline for accepting toys and gifts will be on Monday, December 10.
That will give our partners time to ensure that underprivileged children in East Kilbride and Avondale will wake up with presents on Christmas Day.
Salvation Army East Kilbride Captain Joanna Baker said: “We have had a good steady amount of toys coming in which is great.
“People have been really generous but we will be starting to make up the parcels on Monday so it would be helpful if people still wanting to give can give now.”
The Toy Appeal gives to children aged from birth to 18 years and donations of toys, selection boxes, books, games and cash are gratefully accepted.
What we ask is that toys or other donated items are new as children who will benefit from the appeal do have the same hopes and expectations as children in any other family.
Toy and cash donations can be handed in to the Salvation Army Citadel at 25 Mid Park in The Murray – drop-off times are Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am till 12noon.
Toy donations can also be dropped off at The Entertainer, and Costa Coffee in the Plaza mall, Toy Town in Princes Square and the Bank of Scotland in Princes mall.
Organisers also need gift tags, wrapping paper, sticky tape and batteries, especially AA batteries; all of which would be gratefully received. Sensory toys are also needed for children with additional support needs.
