Vehicle safety advice
Police are warning motorists to be extra vigilant amidst a spate of car thefts in the town.
Overnight into January 5, entry was forced to a Ford Transit van on Darwin Road, Westwood, which was subsequently stolen. This latest incident follows a spate of vehicle thefts in the town.
Last month East Kilbride was hit by a mini crimewave over one weekend with homes and vehicles targeted by opportunist thieves.
A £20,000 Harley Davidson motorbike was stolen in a break-in from Wilson Place, Nerston at around 10.30am on December 8 – a Ford Transit van containing tools and golf clubs worth £6000 was stolen from Springburn Place in College Milton at around 10.30pm the same day.
Thieves also made off in a car parked on a roadway in Falkland Drive, West Mains.
The vehicle was later recovered by cops near Arrotshole Road, Stewartfield.
Finally, overnight into December 9, a Range Rover was stolen from Maxwell Drive car park.
