Stolen mo­tor used as ran­som

A St Leonards fam­ily have been left ter­ri­fied af­ter brazen car thieves stole their £30,000 mo­tor and held them to ran­som over it.

Robert and Laura Anne Hannah had a rude awak­en­ing on Thurs­day night when their Ford Ranger car alarm sounded at around 11pm.

The cou­ple, whose four chil­dren were asleep in their beds, were hor­ri­fied to see the blue/grey mo­tor rolling down the street be­fore be­ing towed away by a sil­ver/grey Mit­subishi 4x4.

Robert, 37, who runs East Kil­bride Au­to­care in Col­lege Mil­ton, said: “They must have been watch­ing our home as they waited for the lights to go out. It’s a sad day to have your car stolen full stop but to wit­ness it is a whole new level of cruelty.
