Student makes the final
A student from an East Kilbride school has been named as a finalist in a UK-wide science and engineering competition.
Marc Caffrey, who is in S6 at Calderglen High School, will now showcase his project at The Big Bang UK Young Scientists & Engineers Competition.
Marc was announced as one of the winners of the online heats at The Big Bang Fair thanks to his project ‘Do Serengeti Seasons Change the Isotope Values of Grass’, which looks at seasonal impact on wildebeest migration.
Beth Elgood, director of communications at Engineering UK, said: “Marc from Calderglen High School really impressed the judges with their project and we’re excited to see how they do at the finals at The Fair.

Marc will attend the competition finals at the Big Bang Fair at Birmingham’s NEC in March, where he will compete for the UK Young Engineer and GSK UK Young Scientist of the Year title.
