Trial date is set over food fight al­le­ga­tions

A man spent Christ­mas Day in a po­lice cell af­ter an al­leged dis­tur­bance in­volv­ing his part­ner in East Kil­bride.

Derek Thom­son is said to have acted in an ag­gres­sive man­ner, shout­ing abuse and of­fen­sive re­marks to­wards his part­ner. It is also al­leged that he threw food­stuffs around a room and kicked the door of an oven, caus­ing dam­age.

Thom­son, of Caw­dor Cres­cent, Kirk­caldy, ap­peared from cus­tody at Hamil­ton Sher­iff Court, where he was charged with threat­en­ing or abu­sive be­hav­iour.

The in­ci­dent is said to have hap­pened at an ad­dress in On­tario Park, West­wood, on Christ­mas Day.

The 35-year-old will re­turn to court for trial on Fe­bru­ary 27.

Sher­iff Thomas Mil­lar al­lowed bail but im­posed spe­cial con­di­tions, ban­ningThom­son from hav­ing con­tact with his vic­tim or from go­ing to the ad­dress where the in­ci­dent is said to have taken place.
