Fu­ture is bright for pupils

Pupils at Mur­ray Pri­mary School will be seen more clearly when out and about thanks to a do­na­tion from Spec­savers.

The East Kil­bride town cen­tre op­ti­cians is help­ing young­sters stay safe by pro­vid­ing 160 high vis­i­bil­ity vests to local school chil­dren.

The flu­o­res­cent re­flec­tive vests are de­signed to in­crease the safety of young­sters by mak­ing them more vis­i­ble to oth­ers. The school’s road safety team and road safety of­fi­cers wel­comed Spec­savers East Kil­bride store ad­min­is­tra­tor Mandy Pen­der­gast to the school and spoke about the im­por­tance of be­ing seen.

Spec­savers East Kil­bride store di­rec­tor, Shirley-Ann Kennedy, said: “No mat­ter the time of year, it’s so im­por­tant for young­sters to be vis­i­ble when they’re out walk­ing.

“As a busi­ness that looks af­ter eyes and ears, it makes sense that we’re proac­tive in help­ing young­sters stay vis­i­ble and safe when they’re out and about near roads.

“We’re so pleased that we’ve been able to do­nate these vests to help chil­dren stay safe.”
