Food bank misery Loaves & Fishes boss Denis Curran slammed the government for their “lack of humanity” insisting 2018 was the worst year for poverty in East Kilbride with 1400 emergency food parcels handed out.

Geri Anne posted: “The disgusting situation with Universal Credit and people having to wait five weeks for a payment has not helped matters either. I’ve delivered food bank parcels to people because they were too ashamed to say they needed help.”

Eleanor Connor wrote: “Disgracefu­l situation in a country where the government will write off MPs’ drink and food debt.”

Medical cannabis row

Cole Thomson’s mum Lisa Quarrell is taking her medical cannabis fight to Spain after failing to get access to the life-saving treatment in the UK. Laura Caldwell wrote: ”It’s a disgrace that nobody is willing to help.You’re an amazing mum and I hope this works out for you.”
