Food bank misery Loaves & Fishes boss Denis Cur­ran slammed the gov­ern­ment for their “lack of hu­man­ity” in­sist­ing 2018 was the worst year for poverty in East Kil­bride with 1400 emer­gency food parcels handed out.

Geri Anne posted: “The dis­gust­ing sit­u­a­tion with Uni­ver­sal Credit and peo­ple hav­ing to wait five weeks for a pay­ment has not helped mat­ters ei­ther. I’ve de­liv­ered food bank parcels to peo­ple be­cause they were too ashamed to say they needed help.”

Eleanor Con­nor wrote: “Dis­grace­ful sit­u­a­tion in a coun­try where the gov­ern­ment will write off MPs’ drink and food debt.”

Julie Cham­bers said:“The gov­ern­ment is a joke, they know ex­actly what they are do­ing, they take from the poor to line their own pock­ets, they are bring­ing this coun­try to its knees.”And Lisa Smith posted:“Makes me so an­gry.”

Med­i­cal cannabis row

Cole Thom­son’s mum Lisa Quar­rell is tak­ing her med­i­cal cannabis fight to Spain af­ter fail­ing to get ac­cess to the life-sav­ing treat­ment in the UK. Laura Cald­well wrote: ”It’s a dis­grace that no­body is will­ing to help.You’re an amaz­ing mum and I hope this works out for you.”

Ruth Towns­ley said:“I wish this woman and her son all the best of luck.”
