There was a great turnout at K-Park on Wednesday, January 2 for the annual bash, with over 40 players ranging from 18 years old to well over 50 taking part.

Stars from YM’s under-21s, over-35s, Old Crocks, Caledonian League and Greater Glasgow Premier League teams all pulled their boots on for the feast of football, but it was an elder side who proved to be the masters on the day.

The players were split into three teams and played a round-robin 11-a-side tournament of 35 minute games.

Two of the teams were Old Crocks with a few young players and the third was a young side.

Each game was a high scoring affair with the Old Crocks being allowed to field a couple of‘extra players against the younger side.

It was highly entertaining for the large crowd who turned up to watch with 28 goals scored in the three games.

The Old Crocks red and black side ran out eventual winners, having beaten the other Old Crocks team 4-2 and drawing 7-7 with the youngsters.

Individual awards were also handed out at the end of the day’s play. Goalkeeper of the tournament went to Gavin Wallace, Gerry Black claimed the player of the tournament prize and goal of the tournament was won by Murray McClure.

After the games a coach took everyone to club sponsor, The Torrance Hotel, where they enjoyed some hospitality and spent the evening enjoying a few drinks.

Organiser and YM Caledonian League manager, Graeme Robertson said:“It’s a really important traditional day for the club because it’s when players from the past and present meet up along with all the coaches and committee members.

“We all had a great day with the games played in a fantastic spirit and some great laughs had by everyone.

“The after-match aspect is also really important as everyone had a fantastic time bonding back at the hotel until closing.”
