Malcolm hails his players
East Kilbride caretaker boss Stuart Malcolm insists his players deserve all the credit for going on a 10-game winning run.
Saturday’s 3-0 triumph over Cumbernauld Colts was Kilby’s eighth league win on the spin and 10th consecutive victory in all competitions.
Since Malcolm took over from Brian Kerr in October, he has steered Kilby to 12 wins in 13 games, with his only loss coming in a shock 3-1 defeat away to Civil Service Strollers.
But he said: “Ten wins in a row is great and there’s been a few clean sheets along the road as well.
“These things happen because we work hard on it. We work hard defensively and offensively, the boys have got a great team spirit and they believe in the way we are trying to play football.
“They are the ones who deserve the credit. They are the ones that have to go out there and perform.”
The victory at Broadwood opened up a six-point gap over rivals BSC Glasgow, who have played a game more, and a nine-point lead over Kelty Hearts after both of the challengers drew their matches with Strollers and East Stirlingshire, respectively.
“There’s a long way to go, ”Malcolm insisted. “Injuries and suspensions can play a part on all the teams, so we have to try and keep our run of form going.
“I’m delighted that we got the result and results elsewhere have gone for us.
“Hopefully we can get another three points against Gretna this weekend.”
