Diamond Cammy joins Kilby

-

East Kilbride secured their second January signing yesterday when they snapped up young Airdrieonians striker Cammy Russell on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old, who has scored twice in 12 appearances for the Diamonds this season, fell out of favour with the Monklands club when Ian Murray took the reins in October.

But now he has joined Kilby to assist their bid for the Lowland League title and promotion to League Two.

Kilby caretaker boss Stuart Malcolm said: “Cammy is a player we’ve been chasing since the summer.

“Airdrie weren’t willing to let him go at that stage – when Stevie Findlay was the manager – so it’s good to finally get him.

“He’s coming here to get games, score goals and be creative. I hope he will prove valuable to us for the run-in.

“With 11 games to go in the league, injuries and suspensions will kick in so we’ve got to be prepared for the last bit of the season, which will be a huge time for the club.”
