Easy street for troupe
Thesun will come out at Airdrie town hall when two terrifically talented troupes join forces to entertain audiences.
Monklands LightOpera and its separate youth organisation will perform an adaptation of classic musical Annie next month – and tickets are up for grabs now.
Annie, the familiar tale of ayoung orphan living in NewYork during the Great Depression,includes iconictunes likeTomorrow, It’s the Hard Knock Lifeand Easy Street, which are sure to have those in attendance singing all night long.
A Monklands LightOpera spokesperson said:“Annie is sucha belovedmusical and we were very keen to showcase our take on it.
“This will be the first collaboration betweenusand Monklands LightOpera Youth so everybody is very excited.
“We’re hoping to see as many Lanarkshire residentsturn out for the shows as possible; the audiences in Airdrie town hall are always fantastic and really enjoy themselves.”
Expanding on what people can expect from the upcoming production, the spokesperson added:“The show will be directed and choreographed by Steph O’Raw andmusically directed by Patrick McClair; two extremely talented members who have been with us for several years.
“The role of Annie has been double cast and she will be played by girls who are new to the club, Cassiah Fitzpatrick and RubyTucker; we are very excited to see their performances as both are exactly what you look forin Annie – funny, caring, gifted andmusical marvels.
“We havemanyyoungsters who will be performing in the choruses and with the on-stage choreography.
“Any time we prepare to unveil a new production is very exciting and rehearsals have beengoing really well; it’s set to be a fantastic show.”
