The Fragrance Shop will open its doors in the town centre this weekend bringing five new jobs to the town.

The retailer has announced plans to open a brand-new store in the Plaza at 9am on Saturday.

The new store forms part of the chain’s big expansion plans and is one of three new stores to open in Scotland this autumn.

Five new full-time jobs have been created at the store.

On opening day there will be a special in-store event and the first 30 customers through the door will receive a luxury gift bag.

There is also a mid-season sale, where shoppers invest in this season’s scents with up to 60 per cent off their favourite fragrances.

The Fragrance Shop’s East Kilbride store manager said: “We are delighted to be part of such an exciting new store opening in The Plaza Shopping Centre, East Kilbride.

“As well as offering the very best names in the fragrance industry to our customers, they can look forward to some incredible deals and savings on their favourite fragrances all within a modern, welcoming environment.

“My team and I can’t wait to welcome our customers to their new The Fragrance Shop store and look forward to getting to know them over the coming weeks and months and advise them on all their fragrance needs.”

The local store will be the second in Scotland to showcase the retailer’s new store layout which has been designed to offer customers an enhanced shopping experience.

It offers a combination of traditional fragrance shopping with high-tech digital initiatives such as large screens.

Hundreds of fragrances will be available for customers to try and purchase with designer brands including Dolce & Gabbana, Emporio Armani, Marc Jacobs, Hugo Boss, Paco Rabanne and Jean Paul Gaultier.

Store staff have been specially trained to offer the very best in fragrance advice and are on hand to assist customers with advice and recommendations.

The arrival of The Fragrance Shop comes on the back of a number of new openings in the town centre over the past few months.

Bayne’s Family Bakers and Home Essentials are now trading, while Vietnamese street food outlet Hanoi Quan opened in August and KFC returned to the centre in September.

Hot World Buffet is also planning to open its doors in The Hub in time for the festive season.

A spokesman for EK, East Kilbride said: “We are delighted that The Fragrance Shop is moving into EK, East Kilbride.

“With Christmas on the horizon I am sure our customers will be pleased to have even more options for that perfect festive gift.

“It is no secret that market conditions are very challenging at the moment, however, we have been working hard to bring some new faces to the centre.”
