Celebrating the Murray harvest
Schools across South Lanarkshire celebrated Harvest Festival time with special projects last week.
And children and staff at Murray Primary were keen to get in on the act and show their generosity.
Always a special time of year at the school, pupils in rooms three and six took over the organisation of this year’s celebrations.
Children coordinated the harvest appeal throughout the school, with pupils and their families kindly donating groceries and toiletries which the children then brought into school.
And the generosity of those involved in the school again shone through this year, with an amazing amount of donations handed into the school.
As well as working hard to coordinate the Harvest Appeal the children in rooms three and six prepared a special harvest assembly, at which they performed to a delighted audience of family, friends, pupils and staff last Thursday.
Headteacher Irene Tremble said: “I am delighted the pupils in rooms three and six took over the organisation of our harvest appeal this year.
“They did a fantastic job and we are very proud of them. Their assembly was outstanding.
“We are always overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of our families.
“I would like to express my sincere and grateful thanks to all of our families for the donations we received for our Harvest Appeal.
“The donations have been given to the East Kilbride Community Food Bank.We wanted to make a difference to families within our local community.
“Well done to all of the staff and pupils involved in making the Murray Primary Harvest celebrations and Harvest Appeal such a huge success.”
Our photographer Douglas McKendrick popped along to the school to capture the community spirit of the Harvest celebrations.
