Rebekah’s revolution to start off the New Year

-

A Lanarkshire singer will get 2020 off to a flying start when she appears at one of Scotland’s most famous music venues.

Rebekah Kirk, who is from Cambuslang, has been announced as one of the acts appearing at the New Year’s Revolution series of gigs at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow.

The month-long winter bash spotlights the best up and coming talent in the Scottish music scene and gives them the chance to perform at the small Glasgow location that hosted the likes of Oasis, The Killers and Coldplay in their early days.

Talented Rebekah released her debut single Haunted earlier this year, to positive reviews.

She will pay Tut’s on January 8, supporting headliner Mike McKenzie, with the rest of the bill featuring Andrew Dickson and Marina Rolink.

Taking place between January 3 and 25, the popular new music festival will see 68 acts take to the King Tut’s stage across 17 nights for its special tenth edition.

Known to provide an excellent platform for burgeoning artists, 2020 will be no different with a hugely exciting array of bands and solo performers set to make their mark.

Headliners this year include Betawaves, who will open the festival on January 3, Heavy Rapids, The Vanities, One Nine, Russell Stewart and Crystal.

The Van T’s will bring the festivities to an end with a headline set on January 25.

Other acts who will be gracing New Year’s Revolution 2020 are The Roly Mo, Swim School, Fauna, Freakwave, Ghostbaby, Medicine Cabinet and more.

The Tut’s appearance comes just a few months after Rebekah’s previous appearance at the famous venue, when she supported Lauren Spiteri.

The former Trinity High pupil started out singing covers by the likes of Fleetwood Mac and Nirvana and gigging regularly around the county and Glasgow, before starting to write her own material.

Following Haunted’s launch earlier this year, Rebekah hopes to record more music in the near future, building up to an album release.

Also playing the festival are Dogtooth, who include Craig Morrison from Larkhall on bass.

They’ll perform on January 10, supporting the Bomayes.

Tickets are on sale for the festival now with the golden ticket option returning once again, giving fans an opportunity to buy one ticket that will get them entry to all 17 gigs.

They can be purchased from Tut’s in person, or from the usual ticket outlets online.

Tickets are £8 for individual shows, or £50 for the golden ticket with access to all the gigs.
