The singing talents of an East Kilbride schoolgirl have gone viral after she performed an incredible rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody live on the radio.
Nine-year-old Freya Jamieson became a viral video star when her parents posted a video of her singing the hit Queen song at a New Year’s Day party.
Accompanied by her talented young friend Ethan Murdoch, 13, on piano, the Kirktonholme Primary pupil stunned hundreds of social media users with her sensational singing voice.
The video clip was viewed by Clyde 2 breakfast show host Ewen Cameron who invited the youngsters onto the show last week for their first live performance.
Freya’s proud mum told the News the pair were thrilled with their new ‘celebrity status’.
Danielle, 37, from Westwood said: “Freya is so pleased with herself and felt like a celebrity at school the next day.
“She has a massive fascination with Queen, the same as her dad.
“The two of them were gobsmacked when they got the invite, it was very special for them.
“Ewen and Cat were fantastic and made a really big fuss of them.
“They couldn’t believe Freya was only nine.
“They said that they don’t really invite people on the show to perform live anymore so it’s nice for them to be recognised.
“Ethan even got to perform on a keyboard signed by Alicia Keys!”
The talented young music maestros stunned their parents when they performed Bohemian Rhapsody on New Year’s Day.
Ethan started playing the piano 12 months ago and has become quite the perfectionist after learning from Youtube tutorials.
After hearing what Ethan had been up to, Freya decided to learn the words to the song so that the pair could perform it together. Danielle and her family travelled through to Ethan’s house in Stirling to bring in The Bells and Ethan and Freya left everyone speechless with their beautiful performance.
Danielle added: “It all started off as a bit of a carry on at New Year.
“We were gobsmacked by how good they were.
“Freya wasn’t even aware of her talent, she’s a quiet timid wee thing who would be horrified at the thought of going to singing lessons.
“But she’s always singing around the house.
“After a few proseccos we posted the video on Facebook and woke up to messages from lots of national newspapers.
“It went mad online then Ewen contacted us saying he’d never seen anything like it.
“The video of their live performance on the show went viral with over 3000 views.”
Clyde 2’s Ewen said: “I came across a brilliant video recently of these two amazing young people.
“When we discovered they both lived locally, we just had to get them on our show.
“And they didn’t disappoint, they performed live and were incredible.
“The first time they have ever done that too.
“I’m sure that it is not the last we will have heard of Freya and Ethan.”
