Tea Jenny’s help is invaluable

-

Jenny usually organises fundraising events all year round from a specially customised fundraising office in her back garden – officially opened by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

Since the age of five she has worked tirelessly to raise awareness and cash for charities, including Crohn’s and Colitis UK, support organisation the Catherine McEwan Foundation, and the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity where she continues to be treated.

At just 13, when she was crowned Young Scot – an accolade that secured her a place at the prestigious St Andrew’s University if she so chooses and get’s the grades.

And, to date, the selfless teen has raised nearly £420,000 her causes.

And she was hoping to reach £500,000 this year.

One of her biggest events is the popular annual ladies lunch‘Tea Jenny’ in September, which this year, sadly won’t go ahead.

“I was really sad that the event had to be cancelled this year, although I obviously understand why.

“I hoped to hit the £500,000 mark in my fundraising but it’s not to be this year, however there is always next.

“I might try and do some virtual fundraising events though, where people can hold tea parties in their houses and connect online.”

Jenny is no stranger to the limelight.

Last year the budding public speaker addressed her biggest crowd to date when she told her incredible story to 4000 delegates at the opening ceremony of the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterologist, Hepatology and Nutrition in Glasgow’s Clyde Auditorium.

And selfless Jenny also stepped in to help a Murray man whose plight was highlighted in the News.

She delivered a Christmas hamper full of festive treats to Murray man David Flynn in his time of need.

The 52-year-old lost over a stone in weight since having to rely on the local food bank, which he turned to after being placed on Universal Credit.
