Young musicians praised for fantastic year of performances

-

An East Kilbride youth brass band recognised the talent of its musicians recently.

Dynamica held their annual summer concert and awards ceremony.

But this year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the performance and awards ceremony took place in a virtual setting, with band members and staff coming together online.

Family and friends were invited to take part and watch proceedings led by the evenings host, charity chairman David McClounie.

Those joining in got to see lots of videos, photos and recordings of the band which had been recorded throughout the year.

The audience were treated to a medley of songs from the Pixar movies, songs by the junior and intermediate ensembles and a stunning performance of“The Gael”.

In addition to the musical highlights, viewers were also treated to photos and videos showing off all the fun had by the members at the bands summer residential weekend and some of the other social event throughout the previous 12 months.

Musical Director Arlene MacFarlane said:“All members of Dynamica have worked so hard this year and I was really sad that they never got to finish the session together and that they didn’t get a chance to show just how much they had progressed as most performances had to be cancelled.

“They all deserve a huge pat on the back for all their efforts, I am so proud of them.”

Chairman David McClounie added:“I would like to publicly thank all our staff, young leaders and visiting instructors who do a great job all year round not only teaching the music but developing the youngsters in so many ways. Without their time, effort and dedication Dynamica would not exist.

“I would also like to say a special thanks to Claire Nally, Melissa Foster and Robbie McGugan who are leaving our staff team this summer to go off to university, Dynamica wishes them all the very best for the future.”

The awards went to: best newcomer – Harry Mcallister / Samantha Paterson; best junior brass – Sophia Johnstone; percussion award winner – Shona Sasaki; brass award runner up – Rebecca Shields; brass award winner – Adam Hood; endeavour award – Archie Wallace and Dynamica cupEuanThorpe.
