Missed court because of attempt on his life

An East Kilbride man failed to make a court date because someone had tried to kill him, according to his lawyer.

Hamilton Sheriff Court heard that Scott Brown, 35, ended up in hospital with serious injuries.

Brown, of Gordon Drive, was due to appear for sentence on two charges of threatening or abusive behaviour and two of police assault.

But defence solicitor Andy Thomson produced medical evidence that he was not fit to attend.

Mr Thomson added:“He was the victim of an attempted murder.

“He has been in and out of hospital since and is going nowhere at the moment because of his injuries.”

Sheriff Colin Dunipace said a criminal justice social work report and an electronic tagging assessment would have to be completed before the case can be dealt with.

Brown, who is on bail, will be expected to appear in the dock on September 22.
