Aitken ready to start new Kilby season

-

Stevie Aitken says he will work hard to make sure his East Kilbride squad hit the ground running and justify their Lowland League‘ favourites’ tag, as they return to training on Thursday night.

Aitken says months of lockdown frustration will end when K-Park opens its doors to the players, and he’s looking forward to seeing how the new boys gel with existing players.

He said: “There are a lot of good teams in this league, like Kelty, Bonnyrigg, BSC, East Stirling, Berwick Rangers, and a few are saying we’re favourites just because of the players we’ve signed.

“A lot of clubs have the same squad as last season, and they don’t have to gel.

“We’ll work really hard on that side, to make sure we’re going to hit the ground running.

“People say we’re favourites but we don’t take any notice of that.

“Our priority is to get the players in, get the fitness levels up, get them gelling as a group.”
