Organisers ask for fan support

-

One of the biggest festivals in the Lanarkshire dance calendar has been cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Organisers of Stereofunk made the announcement on social media last month.

A post online confirmed the Strathclyde Country Park event, due to take place on September 26, had been scrapped.

It comes after they received a letter from North Lanarkshire Council stating that they would be unable to “facilitate”the event.

Now the organisers are asking for those who had bought tickets to hold onto them for next year in order to protect the future of the festival.

In a post on Facebook they wrote: “The Stereofunk team have worked very hard on this event for over a year and we’ve already invested huge amounts into this festival.

“That includes our marketing, promotions, planning, DJ deposits, and staff wages.

“As a result we are asking for your help and put simply, we’d love you just to keep a hold of your ticket.”

Postponed until September from a date earlier in the year when the country first went into lockdown, this would have been the 13th year the event has run.

Celebrating dance music and culture, the all-day-rave sees over 60 DJs and six Live PA’s across four arenas for 10 hours.

The Facebook post continued:“By sticking with us and hanging onto your ticket, it means we can continue to deliver the events that you have come to lover over the last 15 years.”

Organisers have said that anyone wishing a refund will be granted one and can apply during their ticket outlet. And there was some good news for revellers as a date for next year’s event was confirmed, with the event due to run on May 2.
