Volunteer awards
People are being encouraged to make their nominations to recognise Lanarkshire’s worthy volunteers.
For the deadline f or submitting applications for the 2021 Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS) is fast approaching.
Created in 2002 to celebrate the anniversary of the Queen’s Coronation, the award is the highest given to volunteers across the UK to recognise outstanding work done in their own communities.
Lord Lieutenant of Lanarkshire, Lady Haughey CBE is due soon to present an award to the Lanarkshire Branch of the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Ass oc i at i on ( S S AFA) who were successful in the 2020 awards and she wishes to see other groups in Lanarkshire recognised.
She said: “I would encourage anyone who i s aware of a group providing exceptional social, economic o r e nv i ro nmental s e r v i c e in their area to consider n o mi n a t i n g t h e m f o r a n award.”
