Kilby boss building to fast start

-

Boss Stevie Aitken is plotting a fast-start for East Kilbride in the Lowland League campaign with a busy pre-season planned.

With the fixtures out Aitken knows they must hit the ground running with his revamped Kilby squad.

The gaffer says his side are putting the hard work in to make sure their new stars gel quickly for the big kick-off next month.

With 11 new signings so far this summer coming through the door at the K-Park, Aitken knows they need to gel quickly if they are to claim the title and the pyramid play-off spot.

He said:“We have had a big recruitment drive this year, probably more than most teams would probably do over the course of one summer.

“There has been a lot of changes and we are still looking to add when players become available.

“We’ve put extra training nights in to try and make sure the squad is integrated. The attitude so far has been excellent and at this stage that is all we can ask for.

“As we go through pre-season we will fine tune it towards playing games, but there are positives for us as look to sort some pre-season games.

“We have to operate within the guidelines and work out a schedule, but we have games in mind that will test the players.

“We need to know where we stand as a squad. I believe that we have the quality but we don’t want to be about individuals, we want to work as a unit.

“The recruitment has been good and we need to make the best of it.”
