Calendar launched to support future of East Kilbride Farm Show
While this year’s East Kilbride Farm Show fell victim to the coronavirus epidemic a new calendar is helping to make sure next year’s event is bigger and better than ever.
The popular event in the Showpark was due to take place on July 25 but was just one of many high-profile events which were axed.
But the team behind the show have been working hard and produced the East Kilbride Farm Businesses Past and Present 2021 Calendar, proceeds of which will help fund next year’s event.
Craft convener on the social committee, Winnie Rough, told the News:“Everyone was disappointed that the show was cancelled this year, but we will be working hard to make the next show bigger and better.
“And in 2022, the show will be celebrating its 250th anniversary which is an important landmark.”
In the meantime the social committee – including Una Watt, Jen Spiers, Lorna Hamilton and Winnie Kerr – have been working hard along with secretary Kris Patterson and chairman Sandy Wilkie in creating the 2021 calendar.
Winnie, pictured, added:“We feature local farms that have gone in the development of East Kilbride and also farms that have developed new businesses.
We felt during lockdown that there was a strong feeling to support local businesses and we have featured a few in the calendar.
“The calendar has been sponsored by McQueen Dairies alongside support from our farm businesses and their support is much appreciated.”
The calendar will be available in the Village Post Office and All4pets in the Village. Also in Greenhall Farm Country Cafe and Farm Shop.
It can also be bought online at www. ekshow.co.uk – or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
The cost is £5 plus £1.64 postage if necessary.
