Drug dealer hid rifle and coke in dad’s flat

Father-of-four remanded in custody after admitting his guilt

A bra ze n Eas t Ki l br i de dr ug dealer used his father’s flat to store over £17,000 of cocaine and an air rifle.

Gavin Allan kept the stash hidden i n b e d r o o ms a n d o n t h e s t a i r s o f t h e p r o p e r t y i n Ru t h e r g l e n , S o u t h Lanarkshire.

The 40-year-old was snared in December 2018 following intelligence given to the police.

The dad-of-four also admitted the possession of an air weapon without a certificate.

The court heard Allan was initially stopped by officers in Glasgow city centre and taken into custody.

Po l i c e l a t e r a t t e n d e d t h e f l a t o n Glenside Drive and were allowed entry by Allan’s father who owned the flat.

Officers found 392.94 grams of cocaine in the main bedroom.

Prosecutor Adele MacDonald told the court the amount was valued at £16,680.

Officers later discovered three bags of cocaine which contained 10 smaller two-gram bags valued at £800.

Scales and £1475 in mixed notes were also picked up during the search.

Officers later found an air rifle in the second bedroom which belonged to Allan.

Miss MacDonald said: “The accused didn’t have a certificate for that air rifle.

“It was determined t hat t he c i r c u ms t a n c e s a n d t h e a mou n t o f cocaine found would be for the onward supply and not for personal use.”

Sentence was deferred for background reports meantime by Sheriff Johanna Johnston QC.

She said: “You have admitted your guilt of a significant amount of controlled class

A drugs at a very high value.

“T h e l i k e l y o u t c o me a s y o u recognise would be imprisonment t but I will look at all the e circumstances.”

Allan, of East Kilbride, who appeared on bail, was remanded in custody meantime.
