Aileen takes the helm
Aileen McKechnie took on the role of Principal and Chi e f E x e c u t i v e o f S o u t h Lanarkshire College this year.
Previous rol es i ncluded working for the Scottish Government for 20 years in a variety of roles, including three senior positions in t er t i ar y education pol i c y , most latterly as Director of Advanced Learning and Science, where she was re s ponsi bl e f or £ 3 bi l l i on o f publ i c f unds t o s e c ure teaching, learning and good governance and to support r e s e a r c h, i nnovat i o n a nd science i n our tertiary institutions and science centres.
Aileen also had sponsor responsibility for t he Scottish Funding Council; the Students Awards Agency for Scotland; and the Scottish Credit a nd Quali f i c at i ons Framework Partnership.
S h e c u r r e nt l y s i t s o n a number of Colleges Scotland work i n g g r o u p s a n d i s a member o f t he i naugura l Review of Quality Assurance in Education and Training Boards in Ireland.
Aileen is a graduate from Glasgow University, where she secured an MA (Honours) in French and German and Business Admin.
And she is married with two teenage sons.
