Positive case at town’s Burger King

-

A worker at Burger King in East Kilbride has tested positive for coronavirus.

The East Kilbride News was contacted by a number of worried sources who claimed the fast-food giant had failed to inform staff at the Kingsgate outlet prior to them turning up for a shift and that up to 10 staff members are now self-isolating.

The News were told there were “at least two or three cases”, however Burger King say just one employee tested positive for COVID.

Concerns had also been raised that no deep-clean had been carried out, but the fast-food giant have refuted this claim.

One source told the News: “They aren’t warning workers until they have already started their shift or customers – the only whoppers they should be known for are the whopper mistakes they are making.”

Another source said staff had been brought in from other Burger King outlets with no warning before they got to the Kingsgate about COVID cases.

It comes after an employee at East Kilbride’s Whirlies McDonalds restaurant previously tested positive for COVID-19

When contacted NHS Lanarkshire said they were unaware of any case at the Kingsgate Burger King.

A spokesman for the company said:“An employee at Kingsgate East Kilbride has tested positive for COVID-19; as such we’re following all recommended guidance from the Government.

“The restaurant has undergone a deep clean, and all employees at the restaurant who were on shift have been advised to undergo a COVID-19 test and selfisolate, until it is safe for them to return.”
