Disgust as pup is left covered in human poo
A horrified dog walker has hit out at dumb dumpers after having to clean human excrement off her puppy.
The East Kilbride resident said new levels of depravity were reached at the landscape on Stoneymeadow Road last weekend, which has become a notorious fly-tipping spot.
The horrified owner said when her pet emerged from woodland, it was covered in human faeces.
Her young son, who was with her, almost threw up at the revolting sight and now she hopes CCTV cameras in the area will catch the dirty defecator.
Wishing to remain anonymous, she said: “I continue to be disgusted at the ongoing flytipping that occurs on the lane where Chapelside Road and Stoneymeadow Road join.
“But my disgust reached new levels when I was walking my dog, who discovered and proceeded to eat human waste! The smell was horrific. I could see rolls of toilet paper and our pup was covered in excrement, all round his face.
“My son was nearly sick as I attempted to clean it up.”
The resident says the woodland walk, popular with dog walkers and joggers, has been blighted by fly-tipping and anti-social behaviour over the last year.
Ironically the dumped waste – which includes burnt-out car parts, tyres, bottles, cans, broken glass and even a couch – is directly under a ‘No Fly-tipping’ sign.
But, after lodging a complaint with South Lanarkshire Council she claims they refused to take responsibility, stating the land belongs to East Kilbride Golf Club.
EK Golf Club’s secretary told us bollards, a camera and warning sign have been erected in recent years to deter dumpers, but their greenkeepers are “constantly” having to clear rubbish.
The complainer added: “It’s not being maintained, it’s awful. The irony is there are CCTV cameras and a sign saying fly-tippers will be prosecuted. But the council say it’s the golf club’s responsibility. It used to be such a lovely spot to walk but I don’t even let my older son go down there because you don’t know who’s hanging around.
“It’s a blot on the countryside and needs to be dealt with as a matter of urgency. The poo-gate incident has sent us over the edge!
“There are cameras. I hope they can identify the individual responsible.”
Alistair McKinnon, head of facilities waste and grounds services at the council, said they have “no record of any dumping” of human excrement in the area, but that a local officer has now visited the location.
He added: “The lay-by at that location is a regular fly-tipping site and there is some burnt-out waste there, which will be removed this week.
“Given the repeated flytipping at this site, the council is reviewing options to minimise the opportunity to tip at this location in the future.”
East Kilbride Golf Club vowed to help clean up the site.
