Meet town’s new community sergeant

- NICOLA FINDLAY

The new community sergeant for East Kilbride is looking to meet fresh challenges head on.

Scott Anderson, 45, replaces Sgt Jamie Madden, who took on the role of Operational Sergeant, Border Policing Command, Glasgow International Airport, this month.

With 17 years’service, he joins an experienced community policing team after stints elsewhere in Lanarkshire, although he is hoping to work with local residents to address areas of concern in East Kilbride.

Sgt Anderson, who is originally from Glasgow, told the News:“My police service has been on the frontline with previous roles including response policing based in Hamilton, Larkhall, Blantyre, Bothwell and Uddingston, although every town has its own challenges and EK is no different.

“I was promoted to sergeant onto response policing at Larkhall before carrying out the Community Sgt role at Rutherglen police office and then returning to response policing at Hamilton.

“The team here at East Kilbride comprise of experienced officers with extensive local knowledge of the local community and the current issues affecting the public.”

He added:“We have local priorities that I am responsible for implementing; these include reducing violence and disorder, public protection, housebreaking and drugs within the community.

“I am looking forward to this new challenge and hope to engage with the local community and address concerns identified.

“If anyone wishes to contact their local community officer they can attend East Kilbride Police Office or monitor our twitter page @ EKRuthCambusPol for information.”
