Online events offer insight into new service

Social Security Scotland is extending Adult Disability Payment pilot areas to include South Lanarkshire.

Social Security Scotland is an agency of the Scottish government and is responsible for social security provision in the country.

The agency is responsible for administering Adult Disability Payment (ADP) which is a new payment replacing Personal Independence Payment which is delivered by the UK Government’s Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).

The ADP scheme was originally for adults of working age with a disability or health condition and did not receive PIP or Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and living in Dundee City, Perth and Kinross and the Western Isles local authority areas to apply to.

It will now be extended to include other areas including South Lanarkshire, North Lanarkshire, NHS Lanarkshire, NHS Tayside and NHS Western Isles as of June 20.

A range of online events are being held for stakeholders in the new areas which the scheme will be open to. A total of seven events will be held over the next few months to offer an insight into the service.

An online case Transfers event will be available for stakeholders who support individuals or families living with a disability, long term health condition or terminal illness. This will be held on multiple dates: April 19 (10.30 to 11.30), April 21 (13.30 to 14.30), April 27 (10.30 to 11.30) and (13.30 to 14.30), May 5 (10.30 to 11.30) and (13.30 to 14.30) and May 10 (10.30 to 11.30) and (13.30 to 14.30).

A special rules for terminal illness event will be held for General Practitioners, Practice Managers, Specialist Nurses, palliative and end of life care, hospice welfare support staff, palliative care workers and anyone supporting families or individuals with a terminal illness within the pilot areas. This will be held on: May 3 (10.30 to 12.30) and June 15 (13.30 to 14.30).

An event on information on applications for stakeholders supporting people who are intending to apply for the scheme will be held on May 12 (10.30 to 12.30), May 25 (10.30 to 12.30) and May 31 (13.30 to 15.30). There will also be a session on debt and error, overpayments and hardship policy, this will be held on May 4 (10.30 to 12.00) and June 16 (13.30 to 15.00).

A general policy session will also be held which will cover a range of areas relating to the payment. This will be held on May 11 (10.30 to 12.00), May 24 (10.30 to 12.00) and June 14 (13.30 to 15.00).

There will be a decision making and supporting information session held for stakeholders within the public sector, NHS and Local Authorities. This will be held on May 17 (10.30 to 12.30) and June 1 (13.30 to 15.30).

A decision making and supporting information session will be available for the third sector on May 26 (10.30 to 12.30).
