Time to dine as new restaurant opens up

- ANDREA LAMBROU

Popular American burger joint Monterey Jack’s opened in East Kilbride shopping centre last week.

The News were given a sneak peek of the new Hub, EK venue last night and the New York diner/Tiki Bar vibe certainly gets the thumbs up from us.

We tucked into a tasty sharing platter consisting of their classic beef burger, cheese nachos, southern fried chicken, halloumi sticks, maple and chilli sweet potato fries and onion rings with curry mayo dip on the side, washed down with their delicious Jam and Gin signature cocktail and Kinky Lola’s Cherry Cola slushie cocktail.

More adventurous diners can try and get their mouths round Monterey Jack’s famous Big Jack Range which features their award-winning Combo Jack burger - 10oz double burger, one chicken and one beef, served together in one glorious stack with Monterey Jack cheese, bacon and chipotle dipping pot.

The restaurant chain, which boasts Scotland’s best gourmet burgers from 2019-2021, is a New York-based franchise with burger bars and restaurants across the country.

With accommodation for around 250 diners and a bar serving critically acclaimed cocktails, the chain also serves a wide variety of affordable food and drink including fresh shakes, Italian coffee, mocktails, beers and sodas – as well as a great range of desserts and food including nachos, chicken, pizza, gourmet hot ‘dawgs’ and an acclaimed vegan menu.

Bringing 30 jobs to the town, the eatery is a welcome addition to the town centre leisure hub taking the sprawling former Filling Station unit next to EK Ice Rink.

Regional manager Scott Beaton told the News: “We are super excited to be opening in the ‘The Hub’, East Kilbride Shopping Centre.

“Monterey Jack’s are committed to always serving up award-winning burgers and award-winning cocktails from Scotland’s current Cocktail Bartender of the Year. We felt delivering all this to the community of East Kilbride is exactly what everyone deserves.”

Applications are still open for management, hot shot servers, shaker slinging bartenders and fully trained big chef cherokees along with roles in between.
